ABOUT ME
Stefanie Grupp-Clasby served as Director of the University of Cologne North America Office, housed at the German Consulate General and Permanent German Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to New York under the leadership of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Working from the New York office, she managed the programs, development and operations of the University of Cologne in the United States and Canada while working closely with the University’s International Office and Rector’s Office on the institution’s internationalization strategy.
Before joining the University of Cologne, Stefanie served as Associate Director to the largest learnt society for the study of Europe. Founded in 1970 and housed at Columbia University the Council for European Studies (CES) is the leading academic organization in the world for the study of Europe (www.ces.columbia.edu). Previous employers include the John-F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies ( www.fu-berlin.de/jfki), the Berlin City Senate of Urban Development http://www.stadtentwicklung.berlin.de/index_en.shtml), and the DAAD New York Office (www.daad.org).
Trained in North American Studies, her background is the study of the United States and Canada from the European comparative perspective with special emphasis on political theory. She is a graduate of both Freie University of Berlin’s John.-F. Kennedy Institute (www.fu-berlin.de) and New York University’ John W. Draper Program in Humanities and Social Thought (www.nyu.edu). While working with Columbia University in the City of New York, she took Columbia University School of Business classes in the fields of organizational theory, economics, and marketing management.
